Start With Purpose: Building the Foundations of Social Impact Projects
Purpose-driven projects deserve the same level of discipline and structure as any high-stakes business initiative. Yet many social impact efforts struggle with clarity, alignment, and follow-through—simply because they lack a strong foundation.
In this interactive, hands-on session, participants will learn how to use one of the most powerful tools in the project management toolkit: the project charter. Working in small groups, you’ll walk through the process of building a charter for a real-world nonprofit initiative—defining goals, scope, roles, risks, and success measures.
Designed for both experienced project professionals and those new to the social impact space, this session will demonstrate how applying practical PM tools can bring focus, alignment, and momentum to purpose-driven work. You’ll leave with new skills, a customizable project charter template, and the confidence to contribute meaningfully to causes that matter—whether in your organization or as a volunteer.
Come ready to collaborate and turn big ideas into actionable, high-impact projects.
Identify your vision—your why that drives real impact.
- Translate a social impact idea into a structured project framework using the components of a project charter.
- Collaborate effectively to define project goals, scope, roles, and success metrics tailored to nonprofit or mission-driven initiatives.
- Apply practical project management tools to plan and initiate social impact projects with greater clarity and alignment.
